About The Position

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer to work under the supervision of the Director of Athletic Training. This role involves the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of athletic injuries and illnesses, as well as providing education and counseling to student-athletes. The position also includes overseeing CPR/AED and First Aid education for athletic staff, managing the daily operations of the athletic training room, and traveling with teams. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will be responsible for inventory management, maintaining student-athlete health records in the SportsWare Online system, and communicating with various stakeholders including the Director of Athletic Training, student-athletes, coaches, and physicians. The role also entails coordinating athletic calendars, managing records for athletic physical examinations, completing required continuing education units (CEUs) for NATA and Arizona Licensure, and developing/enforcing Embry Riddle Athletic Training Policy & Procedures. This position requires working more than 40 hours per week, including weekends, nights, and holidays, and necessitates a valid driver's license for team transportation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in exercise physiology/health education, sports medicine or a related field preferred
  • BOC Certification for Athletic Training
  • Arizona Athletic Training License
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • Valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses
  • Evaluation of athletic injuries
  • Treatment of athletic injuries
  • Providing education and counseling to student-athletes about their injury/illness
  • Oversee the CPR/AED and First Aid education for all Athletic Staff
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the athletic training room
  • Travel with both male and female teams
  • Participate in inventory management of supplies
  • Document and maintain student-athlete PHI (i.e. physicals, injury reports, rehabilitation, etc.) into the SportsWare Online system
  • Maintain appropriate communication with the Director of Athletic Training, student-athletes, coaches, and physicians
  • Maintain appropriate communication and attend meetings within the Department of Athletics
  • Obtain, create and maintain an athletic calendar of events
  • Coordinate and maintain records for all athletic physical examinations for all student-athletes
  • Complete required CEU’s for NATA and Arizona Licensure
  • Remain in good standing with the NATA and Arizona Athletic Trainer’s Licensure
  • Develop, communicate and enforce Embry Riddle Athletic Training Policy & Procedures for athletes
  • Work more than the traditional 40 hours per week, which may include many weekends (including Sundays), nights and holidays
  • Possess a valid driver’s license for transportation of team in vans and the ability to travel for team practices and competition
  • Other duties as assigned
