About The Position

Jacksonville University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer to help develop, coordinate, and administer a comprehensive sports medical program for its intercollegiate sports. This full-time, exempt position will primarily focus on the Women's Basketball and Women's Golf teams. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will also perform essential professional and administrative services to support the program's implementation and development, as directed by the Director of Sports Medicine.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Office Suite, and Excel
  • Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in appropriate area of specialization
  • 1 – 2 years of post-certification college and/or professional athletic training experience
  • Ability to successfully balance and manage multiple tasks in an active, fast-paced environment
  • Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC)
  • Florida Licensed or eligible for Florida Licensure

Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively with and under the direction of the Team Physicians and practice within a written scope of practice established between the Athletic Trainer and a supervising licensed Physician as defined by the State of Florida Department of Health (Florida Statute 468) and The Board of Athletic Training (Rule Chapter 64B33)
  • Implement the sports medicine program for the University as per the BOC Domain Descriptions and Task Statements, including: Injury/Illness Prevention and Wellness Protection, Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis, Immediate and Emergency Care, Treatment and Rehabilitation, Organizational and Professional Health and Well-being
  • Provide athletic training services for the University’s athletic department, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary
  • Serve as an Instructor for Athletic Training Educational program
  • Follow the university’s policy & procedure and protocols
  • Work in conjunction with the strength and conditioning staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs
  • Use appropriate education and communication strategies to enhance wellness and minimize the risk of injury and illness
  • Assist the Director of Sports Medicine in the development of the sports medical program budget
  • Work in conjunction with Athletic Department staff to ensure compliance with rules, policy and procedure, documentation for medical hardships and redshirts, insurance claim filing, drug testing and education program, roster development, game and practice scheduling
  • Recordkeeping and documentation
  • Maintenance of equipment and facility upkeep
