About The Position

Lake Forest Community High School is seeking an Assistant Athletic Director as of July 1, 2024. The Assistant Athletic Director is a member of the leadership team who assists the Athletic Director with supervising and evaluating Lake Forest High School interscholastic and intramural athletic programs and personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree, required
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL), a General Administrative Endorsement, or Teacher Leader Endorsement, preferred
  • Experience as a head coach or assistant coach at the high school or collegiate level
  • Experience as an athletic administrator or supervisor, preferred
  • Experience with supervision, scheduling, and management
  • Demonstrated excellence in creating, supporting, or managing meaningful experiences for students
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to speak publicly to groups and media
  • Ability to make rational decisions under stressful conditions
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
  • Ability to adapt to change and is flexible
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite/Google Apps for Educators
  • Ability to learn and manage AV/Tech equipment used at Athletic facilities
  • Ability to interact and collaborate with the community
  • Ability to motivate student-athletes and coaches
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent technology skills - knowledgeable about athletic scheduling, using scheduling software and the development and maintenance of websites

Responsibilities

  • Assists with recruiting, interviewing, and recommending candidates for coaching positions
  • Supervises and evaluates the LFHS coaching staff and athletic programs
  • Hires workers for athletic contests and performances
  • Assists with oversight of summer coaching camps (set dates & fees, coordinate facilities, prepare information for publications)
  • Participates on the Leadership Team
  • Attends weekly Facilities Meetings
  • Coordinates and facilitates the intramural program
  • Administers the LFHS Athletic Code of Conduct
  • Assists with the supervision of home and away athletic contests
  • Organizes and facilitates coaches’ meetings
  • Assists with athletic awards for honors night
  • Assists with the coordination of banquets and awards for end of season team recognitions
  • Organizes, prepares and arranges for LFHS, North Suburban Conference, Lake County, and IHSA tournaments
  • Assists with the preparation of the athletic budget
  • Coordinates athletic contests
  • Contracts officials for all athletic events
  • Oversees the scheduling of athletic transportation for travel
  • Monitors the payment and collection of tournament entry fees
  • Coordinates the scheduling of athletic facilities at East & West Campus
  • Coordinates the scheduling of pictures for fall and winter programs
  • Tracks and inventories athletic equipment
  • Supervises the preparation and maintenance of facilities for athletic use
  • Issues repair orders
  • Attends weekly Operations meetings
  • Enforces compliance with health and safety codes and standards
  • Assists in identifying and using community resources for the athletic programs
  • Assists in the decision-making of facilities using pending weather, current field condition, etc.
  • Represents LFHS at North Suburban Conference, Lake County, Illinois Athletic Director and IHSA meetings
  • Establishes and communicates expectations for athletes, parents, and coaches
  • Manages the student eligibility process (weekly checks, transfer students)
  • Schedules and reschedules athletic contests
  • Oversees Community Education Programs related to athletics (coaches, budgets, facilities & fees)
  • Serves as the Lake Forest High School liaison with the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff Recreation departments
  • Assists with coordinating the rental of athletic facilities
  • Assists the Athletic Director with planning professional development and growth experiences for coaches and Athletic Department staff that aligns with the core values, beliefs, and expectations of LFHS
  • Ensures active and engaged participation at the NSC Leadership Conference annually
  • Prepares and implements remediation plans as required by state law and the Lake Forest High School evaluation plan for any staff members who are rated unsatisfactory; work with the Human Resource Department in any dismissal case involving department members
  • Participates in the formulation of school district policy and procedures
  • Develops and monitors a departmental budget with the Superintendent’s designee through established district procedures
  • Operates within school policies and implements regulations developed by the district
  • Oversees and coordinates all IHSA transfer athlete paperwork and other related rulings in compliance with the IHSA bylaws and constitution
