About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine Department of Surgery is recruiting for an Acute Care, Trauma Surgeon, at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The Acute Care Surgeon is responsible for trauma, surgical critical care, burns, and emergency general surgery. Duties include active clinical participation on the surgical University Medical Center (UMC) team and call schedule, student and resident teaching, and research, and all within the global mission of developing and expanding the program in its clinical and academic spheres. The candidate will be expected to participate in the education of medical students, surgical residents and fellows, and the pursuit of scholarly activities is expected. They will need to demonstrate practical interpersonal and communication skills and be committed to ongoing performance improvement. Dedication to enhancing a diverse workforce and academic environment is vital. They should be able to collaborate effectively with other clinicians. Evidence of clinical competence and competence in clinical and didactic teaching and research is expected. The position will include teaching and research opportunities in surgical simulation and skills training in the 33,000 sq. ft. Clinical Simulation Center of Las Vegas. Participation in national meetings related to trauma Surgery, will be encouraged and supported. Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Surgery
  • Eligible for an unrestricted Nevada medical license
  • Eligible for malpractice insurance
  • Must be able to be successfully credentialed by affiliated teaching hospitals
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment
