About The Position

The Department of Psychology, within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences ( HCHHS ) at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T), is seeking an assistant or associate professor with a brain health related research program. The ideal candidate will apply nanotechnology approaches to study concussion associated brain injury or brained related diseases such as Alzheimer disease, aging-associated dementia/declining neurocognition. This position is part of a strategic cluster hire across the University with three separate hires in the Departments of Kinesiology, Psychology, and Nanoengineering whose teaching and scholarly research agenda is focused on brain health. The primary purpose of this position is to provide student-centered teaching and instruction of undergraduate and graduate level courses while having an active research program that addresses issues related to brain health. The ideal candidate will have a background in Psychology or Nanoengineering and scientific skills to develop an innovative and collaborative research program that complements ongoing research at the HCHHS and Nanoengineering. This candidate will be expected to: (i) establish and sustain a strong externally funded research program in their field of expertise, individually and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary research cluster; (ii) produce an excellent record of scholarly publications; (iii) incorporate modern pedagogical skills in Psychology courses to undergraduate and graduate courses; (iv) supervise and support students in research projects; and (v) provide service to the Department of Psychology, the College and University as well as to appropriate community and professional organizations. This is a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position. Ph.D. in a relevant discipline by the anticipated appointment date and an outstanding research record.
