The DPT program at Simmons University is seeking applicants for a full-time Boston-based 12-month contract faculty position to begin on August 1st, 2026. Requirements

  • A doctoral degree in physical therapy (DPT) or a related field is required.
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in any United States jurisdiction.
  • Evidence of excellence in professional practice.
  • At least 5 years of applicable clinical experience for Assistant Professor of Practice.
  • At least 10 years of applicable clinical experience for Associate Professor of Practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the university community.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching at the graduate level is preferable.
  • Applicants seeking to begin a career in higher education should also consider this opportunity.
  • A terminal academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, ScD, etc.) is preferred.
  • ABPTS specialty certification is desirable.
  • Physical therapy teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in line with research and clinical expertise, with desirable areas including neurological physical therapy, therapeutic modalities, orthotics and prosthetics, and/or assist in systems-based laboratory or tutorials with a preference toward inpatient expertise.
  • Advise and mentor graduate students.
  • Participate in curriculum development.
  • Actively serve the Simmons community.
