About The Position

The Department of English at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position in Rhetoric and Composition, beginning Fall 2027. The appointment may be made at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on the candidate’s qualifications, expertise, and professional experience. The department seeks an experienced writing program administrator to support its First-Year Writing Program, with an excellent teaching record and an active, current scholarly agenda in writing program administration. Administrative responsibilities, when included in the appointment, involve developing and assessing writing curricula and outcomes and initiating faculty-development opportunities that support writing pedagogy. The Department of English offers undergraduate emphases in Writing and Literary Studies, curricula for secondary English certification, certificates in Writing for Non-Profits, social media, and TESOL, and minors in Technical and Professional Writing, Creative Writing, and Literary Studies. Its interdisciplinary generalist MA in English requires advanced study in Writing Studies, Literary Studies, and Applied Linguistics. The university’s first-year writing program draws on research about writing, learning, and students’ needs as writers. It connects writing instruction to students’ majors and the demands of other first-year courses, and helps students understand writing, language, and rhetoric as multifaceted and evolving so they can use them to pursue their goals. Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi is a Hispanic- and Minority-Serving R2 doctoral research institution and part of the Texas A&M System.
