About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for the Lee Assistant/Associate Professor of Economics, Real Estate and Urban Economics. The Molasky Family Department of Economics & Real Estate in the Lee Business School seeks a scholar whose research agenda will complement and extend existing departmental strengths and who demonstrates the ability to collaborate across the Lee Business School’s Centers of Excellence. The ideal candidate will be positioned to engage with and contribute to the Lied Center for Real Estate’s research and policy programs. Responsibilities include conducting significant scholarly research leading to high-quality refereed publications, contributing to the Lee Business School’s research culture, and providing service to the department, school, university, and profession. The ideal candidate will also be expected to teach classes in service of the real estate degree offered by the department.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, or related disciplines from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). ABDs may be considered, but credentials must be obtained by August 1, 2027.
  • For appointment at the assistant professor rank: demonstrated strong potential for sustained high-quality research, publication in leading academic journals, and high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • For appointment at the advanced assistant professor or associate professor rank: an established record of sustained high-quality research and publication in leading academic journals commensurate with an advanced appointment, together with a demonstrated record of high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusiveness and contribute to a respectful, positive work environment.

  • Research specialization in real estate and/or urban economics, with a sustained, forward-looking research agenda in these areas.

  • Ability and/or interest to contribute to the continued development, research mission, and external visibility of the Lied Center for Real Estate.
  • Demonstrated ability or interest in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in real estate economics and/or finance, urban economics, and related areas.
  • Ability to contribute to the department’s broader teaching and graduate education missions.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting significant scholarly research leading to high-quality refereed publications in Economics and Real Estate.
  • Maintaining an active program of research and publications appropriate for maintaining AACSB Scholarly academic qualifications at a Research 1 Carnegie Classification institution.
  • Contributing to the Lee Business School’s research culture.
  • Providing service to the department, school, university, and profession.
  • Teaching classes in service of the real estate degree offered by the department.
