West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in Computer Science with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). This position will be within the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. The search is open to various specialty areas including AI/ML theory and applications in robotics, health, biometrics, and cybersecurity, as well as autonomous systems, human-machine interfaces, and cyber-physical systems. WVU is an R1 University with significant research activity and resources. The Statler College has seven academic departments and substantial external research expenditures. The Lane Department, with 30 faculty members, supports approximately 700 undergraduate and 120 graduate students. The successful candidate will have access to resources from the Lane Department, Statler College, WVU Robotics Program, WVU Data Science Program, WVU Energy Institute, WVU Health Sciences Center (HSC), WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI), Biometrics Center, Cybersecurity Center, and the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). The department has a strong robotics program, active research in digital health, and is recognized as a National Center of Academic Excellence by the NSA and DHS in Cyber Defense. The department also has active teaching and research in power and energy systems, with significant scholarship opportunities for students. Graduate students can specialize in AI and Computational Data Science, Cyber-Physical and Complex Systems, Cybersecurity and Networked Systems, Microelectronics and Embedded Systems, or pursue a certificate in digital health. The department offers highly-ranked online master's programs in Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity.
