About The Position

The Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin Madison is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Physician to join its growing Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging section. This faculty member will focus on an academic career in Molecular Imaging and Radiotheranostics, with potential leadership roles within the department and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. Opportunities for clinical work in subspecialty radiology sections are also available for eligible candidates. The section provides interpretation for a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures, including PET examinations, and has experts in general nuclear medicine, PET imaging, nuclear cardiology, PET/MR, prostate cancer imaging and therapy, and thyroid cancer imaging and treatment. The department utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and collaborates with the Department of Medical Physics, sharing extensive facilities and advanced equipment. The Department of Radiology also offers support services for researchers, including a Radiopharmaceutical Production Facility and Medical Imaging Research Services. This is a full-time position preferred, but consideration will be given for less than 100 percent. The position requires onsite work and has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations, requiring a caregiver check.

Requirements

WI medical license required by start date of position.
American Board of Nuclear Medicine (ABNM) or American Board of Radiology (ABR) Board certified or board eligible (Dual Pathway or Nuclear Medicine Fellowship trained) required by start date of the position.
MD, DO, or equivalent required by start date of position.
Must pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

Fellowship training in Molecular Imaging is preferred.
Dual Pathway or Nuclear Medicine Fellowship trained.

Responsibilities

Performing and interpreting clinical nuclear medicine PET and Nuclear Cardiology studies.
Evaluating and treating radiotheranostic patients with a high level of excellence.
Participating in the teaching program for medical students, radiology residents, and nuclear medicine residents through lectures, imaging conferences, journal clubs, protocol reviews, and direct instruction.
Participating in the development of the nuclear medicine residency program and emerging theranostics training.
Engaging in multi-disciplinary clinical and translational molecular imaging and radiotheranostics research, including areas like artificial intelligence, radiotheranostics, dosimetry, and novel translational radiopharmaceuticals.
Participating in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health (for CHS Faculty).
