About The Position

The Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin Madison is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Physician to join their growing Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging section. This faculty member will focus on an academic career in Molecular Imaging and Radiotheranostics, with potential leadership roles within the department and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. Opportunities for clinical work in other radiology subspecialties may also be available for eligible candidates. The section provides interpretation for a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures, including PET examinations, and has expertise in general nuclear medicine, PET imaging, nuclear cardiology, PET/MR, prostate cancer imaging and therapy, and thyroid cancer imaging and treatment. They routinely perform therapies with unsealed sources, such as radioactive iodine and 177-Lu DOTATATE, and are expanding their theranostics program with state-of-the-art equipment like PET/CT, PET/MR, and SPECT/CT. The UW Department of Radiology is a large department with over 120 faculty, reading over 60,000 diagnostic scans annually, and training over 50 residents and fellows. It benefits from strong collaborations with the Department of Medical Physics and extensive research facilities and support services. Full-time employment is preferred, but consideration will be given for appointments less than 100%. This position requires onsite work and involves access to vulnerable populations, necessitating a caregiver check. Applicants interested in an academic career in Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging will be considered for titles such as Clinical Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), or Assistant Professor (CHS), with the final title determined by experience and qualifications.

Requirements

WI medical license required by start date of position.
American Board of Nuclear Medicine (ABNM) or American Board of Radiology (ABR) Board certified or board eligible (Dual Pathway or Nuclear Medicine Fellowship trained) required by start date of the position.
MD, DO, or equivalent required by start date of position.

Nice To Haves

Fellowship training in Molecular Imaging is preferred.

Responsibilities

Performing and interpreting clinical nuclear medicine PET and Nuclear Cardiology studies.
Evaluating and treating radiotheranostic patients with a high level of excellence.
Teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
Engaging with radiology residents and nuclear residents in lectures, imaging conferences, radiotheranostics clinical conferences, journal clubs, protocol reviews, and side-by-side clinical instruction.
Participating in medical student teaching.
Participating in and developing the nuclear medicine residency program and emerging theranostics training.
Participating in multi-disciplinary clinical and translational molecular imaging and radiotheranostics research, including areas like artificial intelligence, dosimetry, and novel translational radiopharmaceuticals.
Participating in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health (for CHS Faculty).
Working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members (for CHS Faculty).
