About The Position

The Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and the Division of Cardiology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center are inviting applications for the position of Cardiac Intensive Care Specialist. This full-time appointment will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto with a position description as a Clinician Teacher or Clinician Quality Improvement at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. It is expected that the position will be 50-75% clinical and 25-50% related to teaching, quality improvement initiatives, and/or administrative duties. The successful applicant will join the Division of Cardiology which is one of the largest divisions within the Department of Medicine with 22 full-time and 27 part-time and community cardiologists. As a major provider of tertiary and quaternary cardiac services and leader in less invasive structural heart interventions, the Division of Cardiology serves as a regional cardiac referral centre for many complex cardiac procedures. Requirements

  • MD degree
  • Certification in Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or eligible)
  • Licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (or eligible)
  • Completion of formal training in Cardiac Critical Care
  • Broad clinical experience
  • Broad teaching experience (measured by formal training in education, strong track record in resident and fellow education, formal training in teaching methodology, awards, leadership as a clinical educator, and other relevant experience)
  • Broad quality improvement experience (measured by formal training in quality improvement, and a track record of successful initiatives, leadership, awards and/or publications)
