About The Position

Boston College is seeking an Assistant/Associate Director, Athletics Leadership Giving to join their University Advancement team. This role is responsible for soliciting leadership gifts from alumni and parents, focusing on annual gifts between $25K and $249K. The position involves managing a portfolio of donors, meeting fundraising goals, writing proposals, and collaborating with other fundraising areas. The Assistant/Associate Director will also serve as a liaison for assigned sports teams, assist with donor benefit fulfillment, and manage database information. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of professional level frontline fundraising experience for the Assistant Director level.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional level frontline fundraising experience for the Associate Director level.
  • Proven record of soliciting and closing annual cash gifts of $10,000-$25,000 at the Assistant Director level.
  • Proven record of soliciting and closing annual cash gifts of $25,000 or more at the Associate Director level.
  • Experience preferably in a higher education environment.
  • Frequent travel, evening, and weekend work are required.
  • Attendance at all home football games (7) and most basketball and hockey (30+) games is necessary.
  • Attendance at periodic special events is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively about higher education and the Jesuit tradition.
  • Proficiency with technology and relevant software applications, such as Google mail (Gmail), MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education.
  • Must have an appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and the goals and values of Boston College.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit Boston College alumni and parents for annual leadership gifts greater than $10K up to $249K.
  • Focus on closing current-use gifts at the $25K through $249K level.
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 120 or more athletics donors and prospects.
  • Meet specific goals for contacts and completed solicitations, aiming for a minimum of 140 meetings a year.
  • Raise $800K - $1M in gifts per year, both independently and collaboratively.
  • Write effective solicitation letters and proposals.
  • Collaborate with peers in gift planning, athletics development, school development, and organizational giving.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase annual cash giving through solicitation, recognition, and stewardship of annual leadership donors.
  • Serve as a sport-specific fundraising liaison for assigned teams.
  • Assist with donor benefit fulfillment, including premium seating, parking, and tickets.
  • Manage database information and provide telephone support for inquiries through the Flynn Fund main line.
