The Assigner assigns and coordinates daily work orders and activities for gas service employees, using workload requests and manpower availability to prioritize work and optimize labor and equipment resources. The role monitors progress throughout the day and reprioritizes or reassigns work as needed to support timely completion, manage overtime, and maximize operational effectiveness. It also manages undated and filler work, coordinates work distribution and routing with schedulers and field operations leaders, and makes crew adjustments when resources are constrained. The Assigner dispatches emergency orders—including gas leaks, fire calls, and carbon monoxide orders—and directs personnel responding to emergency orders and facility locates across Distribution Operations. The role communicates and coordinates with mobile workforce, field and system operations, meter-to-cash, the call center, construction services, ESSO, outside parties, utilities, and other relevant internal resources. It fields calls from call centers, follows up on customer inquiries and complaints, reschedules work when needed, and informs customers of updated status. This is an onsite role on a rotating 4-days-on, 4-days-off schedule, working 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. shifts, including weekends and holidays. Employees may also be required to support utility emergency response outside normal hours or assist with tasks outside typical responsibilities.
