About The Position

The Asset Specialist streamlines freight transportation by reducing shipping time, expediting routes, and maximizing loads across cargo transport. The role plans and coordinates transportation services, using professional judgment and discretion to improve operational efficiency and productivity. It works with dispatchers, fleet managers, scheduling teams, customers, drivers, and other departments to develop and adapt operating plans, manage daily operations for up to 75 drivers, and coordinate maintenance needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent business experience.
Knowledge of and familiarity with Microsoft and logistics application software.
Ability to solve problems and work in high-pressure situations using independent judgment and discretion.
Ability to work well in teams with staff and contractors from all departments.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent personal skills and a positive attitude.
Ability to work in a high-demand environment and adapt to change.

Nice To Haves

Degree preferred.
Previous logistics dispatch or scheduling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Partner with dispatchers and fleet managers to plan and carry out shipping operations.
Develop daily operating plans focused on achieving established department KPIs.
Evaluate current operating plans and create future plans with a focus on payload, on-time deliveries, and loaded-mile percentage.
Collaborate daily with Scheduling Team Leaders on opportunities to grow and improve company assets.
Assess and adjust current and future operating plans to maximize growth, efficiency, and safety.
Solicit new and existing customers for freight opportunities.
Update known sourcing information as changes occur and revise daily operating plans to maintain operational efficiency.
Communicate in a manner that supports an efficient and successful work atmosphere and meets company demands and expectations.
Communicate with customers, drivers, dispatchers, and other departments to support smooth and efficient operations.
Manage day-to-day operations of up to 75 drivers.
Coordinate maintenance issues and needs with Terminal Managers and Lead Technicians.
Promote effective and timely communication, teamwork, and respect for coworkers.
Provide constructive guidance to other employees and third-party representatives.
Contribute to providing high-quality products and services to customers.
