We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Asset Recovery Manager to join our Columbus, Ohio office. This position serves a dual function — overseeing the day-to-day workflow and performance of PMC staff while also acting as the unit's lead litigation paralegal in support of supervising counsel. The Asset Recovery Manager ensures that collections activity moves efficiently from initial contact through resolution, including legal action where required, and that all processes remain compliant with the requirements of the Ohio Attorney General's Office. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in collections and civil litigation support, demonstrated supervisory experience, and the ability to manage competing operational and legal priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a role as a team leader
  • Proficient to Excellent in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Adaptability, willingness to learn, and ability to work as a productive member of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and written, with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to quickly learn proprietary software systems and databases.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure the proper functionality of all PMC operations, managing workflow from standard collections activity through the final stages of legal action.
  • Conduct regular meetings with firm leadership to communicate important matters, including systems issues, operational concerns, file count fluctuations, and Attorney General-related items.
  • Maintain current knowledge of and compliance with the Ohio Attorney General's Office requirements, requests, trends, and developments within the AGO Collections Enforcement Section.
  • Provide hands-on support to PMC collections staff as needed, including participation in settlement negotiations and handling debtor calls when circumstances require.
  • Draft legal documents for supervising counsel review, including civil complaints, motions, proposed orders and entries, bank attachment requests, wage garnishment requests, discovery instruments, releases, and praecipes.
  • Prepare correspondence on behalf of PMC and supervising counsel to courts, opposing parties, third parties, state agencies, and debtors.
  • Track and maintain case progress and a comprehensive record of all PMC legal document submissions.
  • Lead in-office Subpoena Days for PMC; participate alongside assigned collections account representatives in meetings with debtor subjects who appear at the office.
  • Review and evaluate requests for legal action submitted by collections staff for legal saliency and merit.
  • Conduct legal research in support of active matters and strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor individual courts for changes to their procedures, local rules, and filing requirements.
  • Directly supervise PMC staff, including collections account representatives and the administrative assistant.
  • Monitor staff performance and ensure duties are carried out effectively; provide meaningful feedback and participate in the annual performance evaluation process.
  • Deliver ongoing training, guidance, and support to staff as needs arise.
  • Review and approve staff hours for payroll processing and manage time-off requests.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between PMC, firm leadership, and external government agencies on a range of day-to-day operational and legal matters.
  • Interface with PMC's dedicated AGO account representative on routine matters and escalate to AGO Collections Enforcement management for elevated issues as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services' Litigation Unit files requiring active litigation.
  • Represent the firm in direct meetings with officials from the Ohio Attorney General's Office when required.
