Asset Protection Store Detective

About The Position

The Asset Protection Store Detective helps ensure a safe and secure environment for customers, team members, and vendors. The role investigates internal and external theft, including Organized Retail Crime (ORC), and promotes proactive, preventive practices and continuous improvement in asset protection and safety to enhance profitability. The position includes surveillance, inspections, equipment and alarm review, incident documentation, support for theft prosecutions, and testimony in court proceedings.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
At least 6 months of experience in security or at least 1 year of work experience.

Responsibilities

Visually inspect the building exterior and parking lot to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Conduct walking inspections of the backroom and sales floor.
Review cashier exception reports.
Conduct internal theft surveillance.
Review theft activity reports and follow up as necessary.
Conduct shoplifting surveillance.
Report safety hazards to Store Leadership for follow-up.
Test and inspect camera equipment to ensure effective operation.
Review the alarm system printer for suspicious activity.
Participate in the apprehension of people violating the law and assist with prosecution of external theft cases.
Complete required documentation and write incident reports containing pertinent facts and incident history that may be needed for litigation.
Testify in criminal and/or civil court proceedings.
Follow all safety practices, principles, guidelines, and policies, including 200% safety accountability.
Perform other duties as required.
