About The Position

The Asset Protection Coordinator is an hourly position reporting directly to the Market Asset Protection Manager. The role maintains and monitors asset protection, security, compliance, and safety functions within a facility. The Asset Protection team works to reduce shrink, maintain accurate inventory and compliance, and provide a safe and secure environment for employees and customers. This is accomplished through reviewing reports, observing and educating on the sales floor, and monitoring compliance with safety, inventory, and shrink directives. The position requires a uniform and customer-facing presence on the sales floor, as well as administrative reviews and investigations. It assists store leadership with training, safety programs, and asset protection initiatives; reviews inventory and exception data; investigates losses and discrepancies; and maintains security systems and merchandise protection standards. The coordinator may also monitor criminal cases, appear in court, and testify when warranted. Travel is not an essential function and, if requested, is less than 10%.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience conducting criminal, internal, or related investigations.
Experience using physical security systems such as CCTV and EAS.
Experience conducting quality reviews or audits.
Ability to perform regular computer work, walk, stand, and lift up to 50 pounds; sitting is occasional.
Must possess or be able to obtain certifications and licenses required by applicable law.

Nice To Haves

Associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Previous experience in security, asset protection, and safety, or a retail inventory background.
Current AHA First Aid / CPR / AED certification.

Responsibilities

Assist with training and continued development of Outfitters on shrink, safety, and security functions.
Communicate Asset Protection directives and initiatives to store leadership and other Outfitters as appropriate.
Provide customer service on the sales floor and interact with customers and Outfitters who may need assistance or appear suspicious.
Identify causes of shrink by analyzing cycle counts, trailer audits, known loss, vendor compliance opportunities, and exception reports.
Review inventory adjustments for accountability and investigate discrepancies; ensure over- and short-shipment issues between the distribution center and store are investigated and resolved.
Promote commitment to asset protection programs among Outfitters and vendors.
Educate staff on removing merchandise protection tools and ensuring products are paid for at point of purchase; monitor physical security and merchandise protection standards.
Monitor facility property and parking areas to support a safe and secure environment.
Conduct known-loss investigations and review exception reports.
Assist with investigations of criminal activity, policy violations, illicit behavior, workplace accidents, workplace violence, and operational or nefarious loss.
Monitor criminal cases, appear in court, and testify as warranted.
Conduct information-gathering and integrity interviews when assigned or authorized.
Assist in investigating compliance or process irregularities relating to firearms protocols.
Ensure asset protection and security systems are maintained and working appropriately.
Assist store leadership in promoting safety programs, supporting safe work procedures, and participating on the safety committee.
Prepare detailed and accurate reports in a timely manner.
Obtain and maintain certifications or licenses required by applicable law.
Perform other duties as assigned.
