The Asset Protection Associate is responsible for observing activities to detect theft, fraud, or suspicious activity, and collecting investigative evidence utilizing CCTV and observations from the sales floor. This role follows AP Directives and Company policy when making apprehensions and executes required Company investigation routines to identify and resolve theft, properly documenting all stages. The associate will conduct external interviews with customers and contractors suspected of theft, and report suspected fraud and infractions of company policy. They will create and manage records for apprehension, witness statements, evidence retention, and merchandise recovery. Based on direction from Asset Protection leadership, the associate will collect evidence and/or monitor associate activity for internal investigations and may serve as an interview witness. Proactively identifying potential acts of theft and fraud through observation, exception reports, and referrals is key. The role also involves investigating suspicious behavior, attending court hearings as required, maintaining relationships with law enforcement, and analyzing intelligence on individuals and groups involved in theft. Additionally, the associate supports a safety culture by identifying and correcting hazards, providing emergency response, assisting with incident investigations and audits, and coaching associates on safety. They will also provide support in morning meetings to communicate shrinkage and safety topics and assist stores during critical incidents.
