About The Position

The Asset Protection Associate helps protect customers, associates, merchandise, and facilities by deterring theft, supporting investigations and safety practices, and maintaining a visible security presence. The role works with store leadership, local authorities, law enforcement, and other retailers to address theft and organized retail crime. It also supports cash handling, inventory controls, surveillance, incident documentation, and compliance with company policies. The associate welcomes and assists customers, visitors, and vendors, monitors the store and parking areas, and helps maintain a safe environment. The position starts at $21 per hour and may require night, weekend, or early morning hours based on business needs. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Strong communication and organization skills.
Ability to perform the listed physical activities, with or without reasonable accommodation: sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push or pull, lift, talk, and hear.
Ability to perform heavy work: exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
Ability to work night, weekend, and/or early morning hours based on business needs.
Follow safety procedures and perform job duties in a way that minimizes the risk of injury.

Nice To Haves

College graduate preferred.
Preference for candidates with 2–3 years of prior loss prevention experience.

Responsibilities

Communicate with leadership about encounters and investigations.
Maintain professional relationships with local authorities and law enforcement agencies.
Collaborate with law enforcement and other local retailers to identify organized retail crime threats.
Assist leadership with cash handling and transfers.
Observe customers and associates for potential theft or fraud.
Address external theft through a uniformed, visible presence and strategic methods; apprehend shoplifters when appropriate and in accordance with company policy, ethical standards, and guidelines.
Monitor video using CCTV and conduct on-site interviews.
Create objective, thorough incident reports in a timely manner.
Maintain apprehension and investigation records according to company standards.
Develop and maintain knowledge of CCTV surveillance equipment and its use.
Assist in monitoring compliance with company policies and procedures related to theft deterrence, safety, and operational controls, as assigned by the supervisor.
Maintain a visible deterrent to crime, help positively influence security incident rates, and assist with inventory controls.
Help mitigate security risks and provide a safer environment for employees and customers.
Welcome customers, visitors, and vendors professionally, and help them locate staff in the stores.
Issue electric handicapped shopping carts and assist customers in obtaining wheelchairs and shopping carts.
Examine and properly tag property brought into stores, including personal property, service equipment, and firearms.
Monitor facilities and parking areas on foot.
Direct traffic during special events or periods of heavy customer traffic and enforce parking regulations.
Conduct regularly scheduled floor and exterior walks to support customer and facility safety and security.
Complete monthly reports on safe and non-safe practices found on the sales floor or in backstock areas.
