About The Position

IREN is a leading AI Cloud Service Provider, delivering large-scale GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s vertically integrated platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and data centers in renewable-rich regions across the U.S. and Canada. The Asset Manager Technology, focusing on HPC Hardware & Infrastructure is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management of high-performance computing (HPC) technology assets, including GPU/CPU compute nodes, high-speed networking, storage platforms, and supporting rack-level infrastructure. This role ensures accurate inventory and configuration data, drives governance across procurement to retirement processes, and partners with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and suppliers to optimize availability, utilization, compliance, and total cost of ownership across HPC environments. With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data center operations, hardware asset management, or large-scale compute environments (HPC, AI/ML clusters, or cloud infrastructure preferred).
  • Strong technical knowledge of server hardware (GPU/CPU architectures), networking (NICs, switches, RDMA, InfiniBand/Ethernet), and storage systems.
  • Experience managing high-density compute environments, particularly GPU-based workloads.
  • Familiarity with hardware monitoring, asset management, and DCIM tools, as well as firmware and lifecycle management systems.
  • Experience with industry frameworks such as ITIL, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and data center operational best practices.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose hardware and network performance issues.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration across engineering, operations, and vendor teams.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing complex, high-volume asset environments.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-availability environment with shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations and lifecycle management of technology assets within the data center, including GPUs, CPUs, NICs, storage devices, and network switching equipment.
  • Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) programs for IT hardware to ensure optimal performance, uptime, and longevity.
  • Manage the full asset lifecycle for technology equipment, including procurement support, inventory control, configuration tracking, firmware/driver management, warranty oversight, and end-of-life (EOL) planning.
  • Oversee hardware deployment, commissioning, and decommissioning processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and minimal service disruption.
  • Supervise on-site technical staff and contractors responsible for rack integration, cabling, hardware swaps, and diagnostics, ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational best practices.
  • Monitor system health, utilization, and performance metrics (e.g., GPU utilization, network throughput, hardware error rates) to meet uptime and performance SLAs.
  • Coordinate capacity planning for compute and network resources, aligning hardware availability with customer workloads and business growth.
  • Lead incident response for technology asset failures, including root cause analysis (RCA), failure trend analysis, and implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Canadian and British Columbia regulations, including WorkSafeBC safety standards, environmental handling of electronic waste (e-waste), and applicable data/security standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2).
  • Manage vendor relationships for hardware suppliers, OEMs, and maintenance providers, ensuring timely support, RMA processing, and cost-effective procurement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, software, network, and operations teams to support hardware optimization, firmware rollouts, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of asset inventories, configurations, maintenance activities, incidents, and audit records using asset management and DCIM tools.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting for technology asset procurement, maintenance, and refresh cycles, identifying cost optimization opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on hardware reliability, performance efficiency, and operational scalability.
