About The Position

The Co-op term is from January to December, 2027. Full time requirement (40 hours per week). Purpose: Support the optimization and management of spare parts inventory and storage systems within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role will focus on improving inventory accuracy, material flow, storage organization, critical spare parts management, and maintenance processes to ensure equipment reliability, operational continuity, and cost efficiency.

Requirements

  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Engineering, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher , reflective of all college coursework.
  • Enrollment, although not necessarily taking classes, in an accredited college or university during the Co-op term is required
  • Ability to work fully on-site in Añasco, Puerto Rico.
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of inventory management, warehouse operations, or spare parts management.
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments such as Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, or similar industries.
  • Experience with CMMS systems such as SAP PM, Maximo, or equivalent .
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles, material planning, and supply chain processes.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SAP, or other data analysis tools .
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement skills.
  • Experience supporting equipment qualification, validation activities, or maintenance operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the management and optimization of spare parts storage layouts, including space utilization, organization, identification, labeling, and material flow.
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of spare parts management processes, including procurement, receiving, storage, replenishment, and obsolescence management.
  • Analyzing equipment and maintenance requirements to identify critical spare parts and appropriate inventory levels.
  • Monitoring inventory parameters such as minimum/maximum levels, reorder points, safety stock, and critical spares.
  • Maintaining accurate spare parts information within CMMS systems and supporting master data management activities.
  • Performing inventory and data analysis to identify opportunities for optimization, reduce shortages, eliminate duplicate materials, and manage obsolete inventory.
  • Supporting spare parts logistics and improving technician access to required components.
  • Developing and tracking KPIs related to inventory accuracy, stock availability, service levels, consumption trends, and inventory performance.
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, optimizing storage space, and controlling inventory costs.
  • Supporting 5S and visual management initiatives within storage and inventory areas.
  • Collaborating with Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement, and suppliers to support equipment reliability and business continuity.
  • Assisting in the development of standard operating procedures, work instructions, process maps, and related documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with quality, safety, EHS, and documentation requirements.
