GFT is seeking an Asset Management and Maintenance Technician (AMM Tech) to join our Transportation Team. This role follows an onsite work model, requiring regular attendance at our listed offices. Requirements

  • Experience with NCDOT Operations & Maintenance procedures.
  • Valid driver’s license in state of residence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Understanding of construction surveying procedures and principles.
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage projects.
  • Assist public and private agencies with various asset management activities, including pavement condition assessments, storm drainage assessments, maintenance inspections, and response to natural disasters.
  • Read and understand NCDOT maintenance contracts and interpret them for the project team.
  • Answer inquiries and complaints from Project Managers, acting as a good communicator and resolving issues in the field with personnel, contractors, municipalities, and the general public.
  • Successfully use tools of the trade needed for specific projects and train subordinates in their use.
  • Obtain accurate measurements, report project progress information, and document in an Inspector's Daily Report (IDR), training subordinate team members in this process.
  • Set up project pay records and train subordinate technicians in their use.
  • Identify problems to the contractor and project manager, and keep the project manager informed of project progress.
  • Follow and carry out specific instructions on an independent basis.
  • Compute quantities and costs using basic math skills.
  • Interpret and implement company-mandated safety policies.
  • Lead safety meetings on a regular basis.
  • Operate a level and understand cut and fills and elevations for highway grades.
  • Perform project-specific quality control tasks as defined in the quality control manual.
  • Mentor and train subordinate technicians.
  • Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
  • Attend meetings as needed related to operations projects.
