About The Position

The Summer Intern Asset Management and Investment Intern supports the investments and asset management teams by gaining hands-on experience in analyzing potential multifamily land acquisitions, assisting with portfolio oversight, and shadowing key team members. This role provides exposure to deal sourcing, financial modeling, market research, and investment decision-making, while also learning about property management, asset performance, and operational best practices.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or a related field.
  • Interest in real estate investment, acquisitions, and property management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial modeling a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with real estate databases (e.g., CoStar, Yardi, Argus) preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative, self-motivated, and eager to learn.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk and work on a computer.
  • Occasional walking of potential land acquisition sites, which may include uneven terrain.
  • Occasional travel will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in sourcing potential development land by networking with brokers, landowners, and other stakeholders.
  • Help create and maintain lists of target development parcels in designated markets.
  • Monitor market activity, regional economic trends, and comparable transactions to support acquisition analysis.
  • Maintain an organized pipeline of active, prospective, and closed land deals.
  • Assist in supporting evaluation of potential multifamily deals through financial analysis, including cash flow projections and scenario modeling.
  • Assist in preliminary underwriting and investment feasibility assessments.
  • Conduct research on market demographics, rental trends, zoning, property valuations, and other relevant metrics.
  • Assist in supporting the land acquisition due diligence process, including coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks and assist with mitigation strategies.
  • Shadow the asset management team to gain insight into property operations, performance tracking, and investor reporting.
  • Assist in monitoring portfolio metrics, including occupancy, rent collections, and operating expenses.
  • Participate in asset review meetings, observing how strategic decisions are made to enhance property performance.
  • Support preparation of materials for internal reporting and presentations.
  • Draft summaries, site overviews, and presentation materials for leadership review.
  • Collaborate across investments, legal, development, and asset management teams to understand the full acquisition and management process.
  • Stay informed on industry standards, real estate valuation methods, and emerging multifamily development trends.
  • Complete internship project.
  • Complete additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
