Asset Management Analyst
About The Position
The Asset Management Analyst will work on an assigned portfolio spanning multiple property types, geographies, asset managers, and investment risk profiles. This role supports asset managers through cash flow modeling, competitive and market research, and the preparation of annual business plans and budgets. The analyst will provide day-to-day oversight of property operations and coordination with third-party operators and joint venture partners. They will develop and evaluate portfolio and property business plans to improve performance, investment returns, and capital deployment. The position supports property-level decisions with analysis and proper reporting to communicate investment plans and status for internal and external portfolio stakeholders. The role also coordinates property dispositions and refinancing opportunities with joint venture partners, AEW team members, and third-party legal counsel. Additionally, the analyst will assist the Acquisitions team with due diligence and the effective onboarding of new investments. Building strong working relationships with team members, joint venture partners, property managers, project managers, and other third parties is crucial. The role involves visiting assigned markets and properties to support business plans, monitor operations, assess competition, and identify improvement opportunities. The analyst will monitor market conditions and collaborate with AEW’s Research team to understand its outlook and recommendations for each market. This is a self-starter role that requires initiative and effective contribution to the team, with a need to develop strong working relationships with Portfolio Managers and members of the Asset Management team, and to generate innovative approaches to situations with thorough follow-up and attention to detail.
Requirements
- BS/BA and a strong academic record with emphasis on real estate, finance, accounting and/or economics preferred.
- 1 - 2 years of direct real estate asset management experience required.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of accounting and finance principles.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience and fluency with Argus valuation software and Excel necessary.
- Ability to select and efficiently manage the activities of internal resources and third-party service providers
- Exposure to financial modeling with Excel and Argus as well as general quantitative skills
