About The Position

As an Analyst, you will play a key role in the management and resolution of non-performing commercial real estate loans and REO assets across a variety of asset classes, including but not limited to office, industrial, retail, multifamily, hospitality, and specialized asset types. You will also perform credit analyses on pools of commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), with exposure to both agency and non-agency debt. This position can be based in Washington D.C., New York, or Dallas offices.

  • Advanced analytical skills with a strong command of financial modeling and real estate return metrics.
  • Excellent written communication and persuasive writing abilities.
  • Ability to effectively present complex information to diverse stakeholders, including those unfamiliar with specific markets.
  • Strong project management and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with the initiative to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in commercial real estate finance, structured finance, or asset management across multiple property types.
  • Proven understanding of commercial real estate fundamentals, valuation methods, and financial structures.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Excel models to evaluate property cash flows and valuations across various commercial real estate asset classes.
  • Conduct asset valuations through in-depth market research, including comparable property and industry analysis, leveraging broker relationships, third-party data platforms, independent investigation, and a solid understanding of capital markets.
  • Perform on-site property inspections and management interviews across the United States.
  • Oversee third-party vendors, including property managers, construction managers, and leasing agents, to execute business plans and preserve asset value.
  • Contribute to the resolution of defaulted loans and REO assets by reviewing broker opinions of value, offering memoranda, appraisals, and other due diligence materials; present conclusions to internal credit committees.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies across CW's loan and REO portfolio.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, data-driven recommendations and updates to CW's client base through written reports and direct interactions.
