Asset Lead (Director), Oncology Outcomes Research
About The Position
AstraZeneca is seeking an Asset Lead, Oncology Outcomes Research (O2R), based at its campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The role reports to the Tumor Lead for Oncology Outcomes Research and develops and executes health outcomes and real-world strategies and studies at global and US market levels. The O2R team develops strategy and delivers real-world, health outcomes, economic, and patient-reported research, focusing on quantifying and communicating the value proposition. It also partners strategically with Global and Regional medical teams to develop oncology health outcomes strategy. The Asset Lead leads global franchise strategy and asset-specific global and US regional health outcomes strategy, including real-world evidence and research to assess, quantify, and communicate value. The role oversees outcomes researchers and research plans, provides team leadership and development, engages internal and external collaborators, and contributes to governance reviews to support scientific rigor. The position requires 25% travel.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Expert knowledge and application of epidemiological and health outcomes methodology within the pharmaceutical industry at an international level.
- In-depth expertise in research methods for real-world research and HEOR projects, including pharmacoepidemiologic models.
- Scientific expertise in oncology and knowledge of different data sources.

Responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of the Global Franchise strategy, including real-world evidence and other activities that assess, quantify, and communicate the value proposition for AstraZeneca’s oncology portfolio.
- Lead development and execution of asset-specific Global and US Regional health outcomes strategy.
- Oversee a team of Outcomes Researchers delivering strategy and technical execution of projects for the franchise.
- Strategically communicate with and influence diverse internal and external collaborators in GMA, OBU, and ORD.
- Maintain proactive relationships and communications with key counterparts in GMA, CMLT, USMA, EUCAN, OMAP, and International.
- Manage, coach, and mentor outcomes researchers with diverse technical skills to enable impactful and measurable results.
- Oversee development of research plans for assets.
- Participate in internal review and governance meetings, including ERT, to ensure the scientific rigor of AstraZeneca-sponsored research.
