About The Position

The Asset Based Lending (ABL) Analyst II/III supports the ongoing management and monitoring of a portfolio of asset-based lending relationships. The role is focused primarily on portfolio management responsibilities, including collateral analysis, financial performance monitoring, risk assessment, covenant compliance, and client service. The Analyst works closely with Portfolio Managers, Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, and ABL Operations to ensure credit quality, identify emerging risks, and support the long-term management of client relationships. This position is designed for professionals with 1-3 years of experience in commercial banking, ABL, credit, or commercial finance experience who are seeking to develop the skills necessary for advancement into a ABL Portfolio Manager or Underwriter role.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in Asset Based Lending, commercial banking, commercial finance, credit analysis, or portfolio management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of financial statement analysis and commercial credit fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with field examinations and collateral monitoring.
  • Experience preparing annual reviews and portfolio management presentations.
  • Knowledge of UCC collateral structures and ABL documentation.
  • Exposure to leveraged or sponsor-backed borrowers.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor a portfolio of asset-based lending relationships and evaluate borrower performance, collateral quality, liquidity trends, and overall credit risk.
  • Support annual reviews, risk rating assessments, portfolio reviews, amendments, and ongoing credit monitoring requirements.
  • Review monthly and quarterly financial statements, borrowing base certificates, collateral reports, covenant calculations, and compliance submissions.
  • Track and monitor borrowing availability, collateral performance, and utilization trends.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers in developing action plans for borrowers exhibiting deteriorating financial performance or collateral quality.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of assigned clients, industries, and facility structures.
  • Evaluate field examination reports and track resolution of findings and recommendations.
  • Review accounts receivable agings, customer concentrations, dilution trends, inventory reports, and other collateral reporting.
  • Coordinate with appraisers, field examiners, operations teams, and third-party service providers when required.
  • Support due diligence efforts associated with refinancing, facility increases, and other portfolio-related transactions.
  • Participate in new deal underwriting selectively to support team execution and professional development
  • Maintain accurate credit files and portfolio documentation.
  • Develop relationships with borrower management teams and serve as a day-to-day contact for routine portfolio matters.
  • Participate in client calls, portfolio reviews, field examinations, and periodic relationship meetings.
  • Respond to client requests related to reporting requirements, compliance matters, amendments, and facility administration.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers to ensure timely communication and exceptional client service.
