About The Position

This is an internal job posting for former Multnomah County employees on an active recall list. The Department of County Management (DCM), specifically the Division of Assessment, Recording, and Taxation (DART), is seeking a detailed individual to perform complex, self-directed technical duties in support of property, assessment, tax, data system, and customer services. DART's mission is to ensure community stability and quality of life by providing essential government revenues and reliable, responsive service. Requirements

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Three years of specialized, increasingly responsible technical, data system and/or office experience in property, assessment and/or taxation, property tax accounting, or closely related field, to include the application of laws, policies and procedures, and direct customer service.
  • Must pass a criminal records check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in accounting
  • Strong knowledge of Oregon Revised Statutes pertaining to property taxes, especially Chapter 311
  • Additional training in customer service, finance, and/or a closely related field

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform complex data entry and verification processes in the refund system.
  • Research property tax account overpayments and review payment information to determine statutorily allowed options for refund or reapplication.
  • Generate, manipulate, and balance reports in multiple formats and from multiple subsystems.
  • Coordinate and perform complicated maintenance and reconciliation of individual property tax accounts.
  • Perform complex value and tax calculations, enter and balance data changes, and verify compliance with County codes and Oregon statutes.
  • Provide excellent customer service when working with taxpayers, colleagues, and the general public to resolve difficult, highly technical issues.
  • Interface with the DART Applications Support unit to coordinate and perform duties such as billing and reporting for public website access and data file requests.
  • Assist with invoicing and/or clearing of AR/AP items, ad hoc financial projects, and audit and verification of financial metrics.
