About The Position

This position is responsible for independently performing audits and adjustments of child support cases, which requires documenting support, payments, and credits in compliance with appropriate statutes and regulations. Duties require the incumbent to reconcile financial data from multiple databases or records from another child support agency. Other adjustments may include new case setup, reinstatements, modifications, and distribution verifications when children are receiving public assistance benefits under Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Tribal TANF, and Foster Care. The position is also responsible for training accounting technicians and promoting good working relationships with staff within the Division, State, and other agencies. Requirements

  • One year of entry technical level accounting or clerical bookkeeping experience.
  • Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience.
  • Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.
  • Typing certification (dated within one year) showing the ability to type a minimum of 35 gross words per minute with an accuracy rate of 95% or higher.
  • Knowledge of traditional accounting practices including accrual, obligations, and costs methods.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and procedures for conducting financial and compliance, economy and efficiency, and program audits.
