Assembly Worker - West Columbia
About The Position
Volt is immediately hiring for Assembly Workers in West Columbia, SC. This is a full-time opportunity with 1st and 2nd shifts available. The role involves reading work orders, following production drawings, and performing various assembly operations to join and secure parts. Responsibilities include mounting components, installing subassemblies, and performing intermediate assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, and cleaning. The position also requires tending machines, performing go-not-go testing and inspection, and setting up stations with correct documents and components. Handling and installing polarized/non-polarized components and the ability to read blueprints are essential.
Requirements
- 1 year or more of production or assembly experience
- Understanding of and ability to use a wide variety of tools.
- Electronic and Mechanical assembly experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple and complex instructions
- Ability to operate machinery and computers.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
Responsibilities
- Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
- Crimping, staking, screwing, bolting, riveting, welding, soldering, cementing, press fitting or performing similar operations to join or secure parts in place.
- Mounting assembled components to boards or units utilizing torque screwdrivers and other hand tools.
- Installing multi-level subassemblies and modules into Racks using complex configurations.
- Positioning and aligning parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture or other holding device.
- Installing finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets.
- Assembling and attaching hardware, such as caps, clamps, knobs and switches, to assemblies.
- Performing intermediate assembly tasks, such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating and color-coding parts and assemblies.
- Tending machines that press, shape or wind component parts.
- Performing online go-not-go testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
- Setting up station with the correct documents and components per assembly drawing.
- Handling/installing polarized/non-polarized components on designated location on product.
- Able to read and understand blueprints.
