About The Position

The Electrical Troubleshooting Lead is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and preventing electrical issues on all boat models throughout the assembly process. This role serves as the primary electrical technical resource on the production floor, supporting daily manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and minimizing downtime. The Lead will work closely with the engineering team to receive training on all new models and electrical systems, and will provide technical training and guidance to assembly-line operators.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) with experience working with electrical systems.
  • Understanding of basic DC electrical systems and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year Vocational degree in electrical systems preferred.
  • Boat operation experience preferred.
  • Experience with common hand tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues on boats in various stages of assembly.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on recurring electrical faults and recommend corrective actions.
  • Verify proper installation and function of wiring, electrical components, controls, lighting, sensors, and onboard systems.
  • Utilize electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, digital multimeters, and diagnostic tools to ensure system integrity.
  • Document all repairs, adjustments, and findings according to company procedures.
  • Train assembly-line operators on proper electrical installation methods, safety practices, and new processes introduced with each model.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for line operators requiring assistance or clarification on electrical tasks.
  • Create or contribute to job aids, troubleshooting guides, and training materials.
  • Participate in training sessions with the engineering department for all new models, electrical systems, and updated components.
  • Provide feedback to engineers on manufacturability, design issues, and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Assist with prototype builds, pre-production testing, and validation of electrical systems.
  • Ensure all electrical work meets company standards, industry regulations, and ABYC/NMMA requirements (if applicable).
  • Conduct inspections at key assembly stages to prevent defects and ensure consistent quality.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to electrical assembly, reliability, and efficiency.
