About The Position

HP Fairfield is looking for a Heavy Equipment Installer to join its team in Hopkinton, NH. This is a full-time opportunity on 1st shift, working 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday. The Assembly Technician / Installer will mount tilt fronts, dump bodies, hydraulic hoses, and/or tanks according to specifications and blueprints, using appropriate drills, welder, torches, band saw, and other tools as necessary with fairly close supervision. The role involves laying out, positioning, aligning, and fitting components together, bolting, clamping, and tack-welding parts to secure them in position, and setting up equipment and welding parts for mounting tilt fronts, dump bodies, etc. The position requires performing at least one of three primary functions: Welding (laying out, fitting, cutting, and welding fabricated parts), Electrical (installing electrical equipment on plow trucks and dump trucks), or Hydraulics (assembling or installing hydraulics on equipment). The role also includes assisting with equipment installation in truck cabs and performing other miscellaneous tasks as required by the Installation Team Leader.

Requirements

  • Basic welding and fabricating skills
  • Experience with torches, electric drills, reamers and band saw
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, assembly diagrams or schematics
  • Ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and series of numbers
  • Ability to perform the four arithmetic operations with like, common and decimal fractions
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations
  • Ability to perform fairly repetitive duties and tasks according to set procedures, interacting with people only when it is routine
  • Commitment to teamwork
  • A minimum of 6 months of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Mount tilt fronts, dump bodies, hydraulic hoses and/or tanks according to specifications and blueprints, using appropriate drills, welder, torches, band saw and other tools as necessary with fairly close supervision.
  • Lay out, position, align and fit components together.
  • Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position.
  • Set up equipment and weld parts for mounting tilt fronts, dump bodies, etc.
  • Perform welding: Lay out, fit, cut and weld fabricated parts, using appropriate tools and welding equipment to assemble or install dump bodies, handle stands, valve stands, and any other parts and equipment according to blueprint.
  • Perform electrical installation: Install electrical equipment on plow trucks and dump trucks including running wires, mounting brackets, switches, and control boxes, while following electrical codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, air tools, etc. Test all installed equipment and wiring to determine proper functioning and installation of electrical equipment.
  • Perform hydraulics installation: Select equipment, plan layout, and assemble or install hydraulics on equipment according to blueprints.
  • Assist with installation of equipment in truck cabs as necessary.
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks as required by the Installation Team Leader.
