The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for all assembly and welding operations, supervising all personnel within these departments. This role involves instilling a culture of visual material flow and standard work, and maintaining required safety stock buffers to ensure 100% on-time delivery (OTD). The position operates under general supervision and requires the ability to perform a variety of job duties, including directing work in assigned departments according to engineering specifications, utilizing provided resources to control operations and performance, and managing production schedules to prevent delinquencies. The supervisor must also administer time standards, report method changes, and use variance reports to maintain costs within budget. They are expected to overcome obstacles such as material shortages or equipment breakdowns, enlisting aid from other departments as needed. Additionally, the role involves training workers on maintaining product quality, minimizing scrap, maximizing productivity, ensuring smooth workflow, controlling costs, working safely, and maintaining good housekeeping. Special projects may be undertaken, and consultation with Human Resources regarding grievances is required. The supervisor assumes full responsibility for the quality and accuracy of production counts from their department, maintains prescribed records, and keeps the Superintendent informed. They provide supervisory direction, select personnel, prepare performance reviews, administer discipline, and make recommendations regarding compensation, promotion, demotion, and termination. Regular department inspections for cleanliness and safety, and arranging for proper maintenance and orderliness of the work area, machinery, equipment, facilities, and materials are also key responsibilities. Personnel functions include recommending selection, hiring, status changes, or termination of hourly employees, observing qualifications for foreman selection, and assisting in administering labor agreements and corporate policies. All Senior policies and procedures must be followed, along with other assigned duties. Supervisors are expected to maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area, adhering to all quality practices.
