About The Position

Caterpillar is seeking an Assembly Production Manager for its Sanford, North Carolina facility. The manager collaborates with the team to maintain and improve manufacturing processes and systems, as well as the manufacturing of products produced at the facility. The role analyzes and recommends current and future systems, procedures, and equipment needs based on manufacturing requirements. This is a third-shift position.

Requirements

Working knowledge of process improvement, including evaluating product quality and production methods and maintaining focus on continuous improvement of processes, products, and services.
Working knowledge of talent management, including human resources and talent management processes and the ability to lead, motivate, evaluate, and reward employees.
Working knowledge of manufacturing operations and the ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility.

Responsibilities

Monitor and improve shop-floor safety and aggressively eliminate unsafe processes.
Ensure fixtures, tooling, and processes are followed to meet production schedules.
Determine job priorities and sequences.
Schedule and prioritize constrained resources, and adjust staffing to meet flow and customer requirements.
Determine and execute disciplinary action when appropriate.
Procure and distribute production material to meet schedules.
Ensure preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule.
Implement Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification, and other initiatives.
Evaluate, assess, identify, and lead the deployment of workforce training.
Perform Section Value Stream Mapping.
