About The Position

Boeing is hiring aspiring mechanics for its Assembly Mechanic Apprenticeship program in St. Louis. The full-time, company-sponsored program provides formal learning, on-the-job experience, and mentorship in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. It is a registered apprenticeship recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor, and graduates receive a nationally recognized DOL credential. Applicants are considered for one of three pathways based on their experience and interests: Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical. Each pathway is a 15-week cohort. Training begins with an accelerated program covering foundational manufacturing and assembly skills, supported by managers and mentors and practiced through hands-on project work. Successful candidates may have the opportunity to convert upon completion to a union-represented Assembly Mechanic position, with further program-specific training and on-the-job learning. The Structural pathway covers interpreting model-based drawings and blueprints, following work instructions, sealant application, fastener layout, drilling, countersinking, fastener installation and removal, and trimming parts. The Electrical pathway covers interpreting drawings and work instructions, wire bundle routing, stripping, terminating and splicing, solder sleeves, connector build-up, bundle dressing, fiber optics, RF cable handling, and bonding and grounding. The Mechanical pathway covers interpreting drawings and work instructions, torquing, installing safe-tying devices, rigging, fluid-line installation, and component installation. All pathways include identifying the hand tools, parts, and equipment needed to complete defect-free work while ensuring structural integrity and safety. The program is located at the St. Louis Community College–Florissant Valley campus. Class start dates vary by pathway and course schedule. Classes may be held on first or second shift, and selected candidates will be informed of their shift before the course begins. Candidates must be able to work any shift based on operational needs. The position does not offer relocation assistance; candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense. The stated summary pay is $18.00 per hour. Pay increases after conversion to the Assembly Mechanic position. Eligible employees may enroll in benefit programs that generally include health insurance, flexible spending and health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance, and paid and unpaid time away from work; available options vary by eligibility factors. Successful candidates must satisfy Boeing’s Conflict of Interest assessment process. The position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required by the U.S. Government, and an interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance is required after starting.
