About The Position

The Assembly Manufacturing Engineer will oversee and optimize manufacturing processes within our Assembly operation. This role involves applying insights from product design, fabrication, tooling, and materials, collaborating with equipment vendors, and gathering feedback from operators. The engineer will be responsible for both manual and automated assembly operations, driving process improvements consistently. A key aspect of this position is a strong commitment to continuous improvement on an annual basis. This role does not have direct reports but will be expected to mentor manufacturing engineers and interns.

Requirements

  • BSME/BSMET required
  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a high mix/low volume and low mix/high volume manufacturing required
  • Process development, control and improvement experience required
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and working in tight tolerances (.0001)
  • Strong project management skills, including ability to manage several large projects at once
  • Strong problem-solving skills including the determination of root cause and implementing and controlling solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of practical Kaizen experience preferred
  • Practical Six Sigma experience preferred
  • Experience with controls, including proficiency in ladder logic, structured text, and programming input/output (I/O) is a plus
  • Superior computer skills, with experience in Autodesk 3-D design software a plus
  • Experience working with automated equipment (Robots, HMI, and PLC controls) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage medium and large assembly machine projects through full implementation including capital appropriations
  • Ensure availability and capability of shop floor assembly equipment including automation
  • Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.
  • Design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
  • Communicate manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes
  • Define, redefine, and develop workflows based on capacity and efficiency needs
  • Create assembly tooling designs utilizing Autodesk software
  • Evaluate products based on specifications and quality standards
  • Participate on multifunctional PFMEA (Potential Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) teams
  • Drive process improvements consistently in both manual and automated assembly operations
  • Commit to continuous improvement on an annual basis
  • Mentor manufacturing engineers and interns
