About The Position

The assembler position is responsible for the assembly of “complete units” as specified by customer requirements. This role involves reading work orders and assembly drawings, selecting and assembling appropriate parts using specified hardware, and ensuring the quality of assemblies through examination and testing. The assembler also manages inventory, cleans parts, logs job progress in the company software, and transports finished workpieces. As a lead, this position requires performing duties with limited supervision and training other workers.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble “complete units” as specified by customer requirements.
  • Read work orders and study assembly drawings to determine the operation to be performed.
  • Select appropriate parts to assemble as specified on ISI prints.
  • Assemble appropriate parts using specified hardware called out on the work order.
  • Insert correct hardware into the work piece according to assembly drawings.
  • Count, record, and maintain an adequate inventory of purchased and painted parts.
  • Examine and test assembly at various stages of production, according to standard procedures, to detect nonstandard or defective assemblies.
  • Reject or route nonstandard components for rework through the MRB System.
  • Clean parts and assemblies at various stages of production.
  • Log in and out of proper jobs in the company software system and enter the quantity of completion of jobs.
  • Transport finished work pieces to the next appropriate department or staging area in the production line.
  • Perform all duties with limited supervision (as a lead).
  • Train workers with difficult tasks or situations (as a lead).
