Assembler – Weekend Shift

About The Position

Assembler is responsible for performing assembly work to manufacture products in a cost effective and timely manner while fulfilling quality standards. The Assembler I/II/III will validate material prior to beginning assembly, review work instructions, build product per specifications and within tolerances, complete all clean-up and housekeeping procedures, comply with all quality, safety and work rules and regulations including wearing all appropriate PPE.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform highly repetitive assembly tasks in a manufacturing environment (Assembly I).
  • High school diploma or equivalent and/or 1 year of complex assembly or related experience (Assembly II).
  • High school diploma or equivalent 2 years of complex assembly or related experience (Assembly III).
  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds.
  • Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Assembly I).
  • Manufacturing experience, including knowledge of manufacturing processes or related experience (Assembly I).
  • Experience using SAP or equivalent ERP system (Assembly II).
  • Experience in root cause problem solving (5 Why, 8D, PDCA, etc.) (Assembly III).
  • Experience effectively training other employees to work instructions/standard work (Assembly III).
  • Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP system (Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics) (Assembly III).
  • Occasional travel.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly work to manufacture products in a cost effective and timely manner while fulfilling quality standards.
  • Validate material prior to beginning assembly.
  • Review work instructions.
  • Build product per specifications and within tolerances.
  • Complete all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
  • Comply with all quality, safety and work rules and regulations including wearing all appropriate PPE.
  • Use work instructions drawings, schematics, electronic assembly equipment to perform assembly while complying with safe and effective operation standards of all equipment and tools.
  • Resolve problems with assistance from peers or supervisor depending on the level and complexity.
  • Suggest and implement improvements of existing equipment, designs, and/or processes to improve safety, quality, delivery and productivity (Assembly II/III).
  • Use initiative and judgment to lead problem solving and implementing appropriate countermeasures (Assembly II/III).
  • Cross train in multiple assembly areas and flex to other similar departments based on business necessity (Assembly II/III).
  • Provide training frequently to new employees and current employees learning new work areas on work instructions/standard work (Assembly II/III).
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the products they assemble and how it impacts the business (Assembly II/III).
  • Continuous learning of the principles, practices, and processes of their job as changes require and similar jobs (Assembly II/III).
