About The Position

Woodstream is seeking an Assembler Operator for the 1st shift in Knoxville, TN. This role is part of a fast-paced manufacturing team where employees can build skills and advance their careers. The Assembler/Operator is responsible for safety, quality, and throughput in a part assembly operation, capable of optimizing equipment and/or processes. They will participate in problem-solving and implementing solutions in a team-based environment to increase productivity. Success is measured by communication, cooperation, interaction, and contribution towards achieving work center goals.

Requirements

  • Regular attendance and punctuality required.
  • Demonstrate a standard level of proficiency in at least (1) or more areas of concentration after one year of employment and (2) or more areas after two years.
  • A successful Builder has demonstrated capability and is a certified builder of at least 75% of all units available for production.
  • A successful Accessories Builder has demonstrated capability and is a certified builder of at least 75% of all Accessories units available for production.
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Basic problem solving skills
  • Basic mechanical aptitude

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

Responsibilities

  • Build units consistently within process specifications and at a throughput rate that meets or exceeds documented standards.
  • Produce parts and/or product that meet or exceed the specified quality requirements.
  • Pack and palletize units as per product specifications and at a throughout rate that meets or exceeds documented standards.
  • Perform efficient setups and changeovers as per the production schedule.
  • Work with other Builders and Supervisors in identifying and implementing ways to maximize throughput, safety, and quality of products or processes.
  • Collect units from Builders for testing.
  • Inspect and test units, including UL test units as defined by product specifications, at a throughout rate that meets or exceeds documented standards.
  • Fold inserts and information booklets and prepare other materials for packaging at a standard throughput rate.
  • Load materials and operate equipment (wire machines, drill/punch presses, etc) to produce subassembly components within process specifications and at a throughput rate that meets or exceeds documented standards.
  • Perform daily machine inspections and maintenance as per operator task list.
  • Maintain and support continuous operations in accordance with work center schedules.
  • Maximize machine efficiency and throughput, and when appropriate, seek assistance for equipment failure.
  • Interact with others towards accomplishment of team goals/objectives.
  • Participate in cross training program and support to co-workers as needed.
  • Integrate temporary employees into duties as required.
  • Participate in identifying problems, suggest improvements and participate where appropriate in implementation of solutions.
  • Operate in a safe manner and comply with safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Maintain work area in a neat and orderly way, during and at end of shift.
  • Record and maintain any data related to work activity in a concise, accurate way, and communicate appropriately.
  • Assist in operations in any which way deemed essential to meet production requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
