About The Position

This role is responsible for the assembly of mechanical and electrical parts, including cabinets and enclosures. The assembler will operate solder pots, handle cable assemblies, and test parts. The position requires the ability to polish and test fiber optic cables, cut and prepare fiber cable for termination, and assemble and package fiber optic connector components. The assembler will also terminate single and multi-fiber cables, understand cleaning methods for optical assembly, and assemble fiber optic and electronic parts according to work instructions and assembly drawings. Key responsibilities include recognizing discrepancies, reading Bills of Materials and Shop Packs, inspecting assemblies, completing operational paperwork, communicating within a team, and working with limited supervision after a 30-day training period. The role also involves inspecting one's own work, taking responsibility for tasks, respecting confidential information, and being available for overtime to meet production goals. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • 12 months experience in assembly
  • Must be able to pass Solder Pot Certification
  • Ability to use small hand tools such as screwdrivers, nut driver, and Allen/Star/Crescent wrenches, microscope, hand crimpers and height gauge
  • Ability to use soldering iron and de-soldering tools
  • Ability to read and follow basic instructions
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to read and understand assembly drawings and work instructions
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and assist in resolving problems
  • Regularly required to stand and walk
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 lbs and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Must have full range of motion ability, including stretching, bending, and stooping
  • Requires sight sufficient for significant reading
  • Requires color vision
  • Requires hearing sufficient for extensive, direct contact with employees

  • Computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred

Responsibilities

  • Polish and test fiber optic cables
  • Cut and prepare fiber cable for termination according to Shop Packs
  • Assemble and package fiber optic connector components
  • Terminate single and multi-fiber cables
  • Understand cleaning methods and contamination assessment for optical assembly
  • Assemble fiber optic and electronic parts according to work instructions and assembly drawings
  • Recognize cosmetic and functional discrepancies on parts and assemblies
  • Read Bills of Materials and Shop Packs to include the router and pick list
  • Inspect assemblies for conformance to standards
  • Complete necessary operational paperwork required to maintain the traceability of product
  • Communicate within a team atmosphere to ensure clarity of purpose & Customer satisfaction
  • Works with limited supervision to provide timely and quality products after training period of 30 days
  • Inspect own work and products using quality standards, work instructions and prints
  • Takes responsibility for his/her own work. Respects confidential information and concerns shared by others.
  • Available to work overtime to support production goals as needed
