About The Position

Under direction of the Production Supervisor, the Assembler II Team Lead is responsible for ensuring production teams assemble and/or package products according to customer specifications and established policies, procedures, practices, and standards. This role provides work direction, monitors associate performance, and provides input for associate evaluations. The Team Lead will lead daily Tier 1 meetings, communicate issues to associates, and escalate issues to supervisors. They will also perform detailed assembly and/or packaging operations as needed, per approved documentation and training, ensuring paperwork complies with documentation requirements. The goal is to maintain high quality and throughput levels that support medical device finished goods manufacturing.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of quality system requirements.
  • Must have completed training for assigned work area.
  • A minimum of 3 months experience is required.
  • Possesses communication skills sufficient to read and write clearly and distinctly in English.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the product and process flow for assigned work area.
  • Maintains a positive attitude with respect to changes in processes, methods, and work assignments.
  • Detail- and quality-oriented.
  • Once trained, able to work with little supervision.
  • Performs basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Handles multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Qualified to operate equipment in assigned work area as necessary.
  • Communicates problems to effect corrective action.
  • Working knowledge of various production machines / equipment.

  • Moderate lifting (20 lbs.), carrying (10 lbs.), bending, and prolonged sitting.
  • Requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items; work with fingers, hands, and arms; and perceive attributes of objects and material.
  • Intensive, repetitive handwork for prolonged periods.
  • Requires good eyesight with or without corrective lenses and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a regulated environment highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Model and help to enforce established safety policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Document any safety/injury incidents and communicate to the Facilities / Equipment and Safety Supervisor.
  • Help cultivate safety mindsets within production teams, consistently bringing safety observations and recommendations for improvements.
  • Perform equipment setups and minor equipment troubleshooting. Escalate issues as needed (i.e. to Maintenance, supervisor, etc.).
  • Maintain 6S on assigned line and notify supervisor of any deficiencies.
  • Follow all standard work, quality system procedures, and ISO regulatory requirements as defined by Viant's Quality System, policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Direct and verify that team members are following standard work, Quality System procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor production methods to verify accuracy and quality according to established policies and practices.
  • Apply acquired knowledge of company’s quality system to complete and review required documentation.
  • Inspect product and paperwork for compliance to production and quality standards.
  • Investigate and initiate documentation as necessary when a quality concern is raised. Take appropriate action with associates and any affected product, consulting with supervisor as appropriate.
  • Perform daily cleaning of workstation and work areas per quality systems requirements.
  • Read, understand, lead and direct associates to complete disposition activities of discrepant product, per written instructions, consulting with supervisor as needed.
  • Reference documentation to resolve questions regarding quality.
  • Maintain high standards in quality, throughput, and attendance.
  • Achieve acceptable level of proficiency on trained operations.
  • Identify areas for process improvement, and make recommendations to supervisors.
  • Lead, support, and coordinate with other Team Leads to ensure that all production areas are performing according to their daily/weekly goals.
  • Communicate important information to next shift.
  • Communicate to Production Supervisor any production concerns and feedback on performance of assigned team members.
  • Assist in training assigned team members in methods, procedures, and techniques according to established policies, procedures, and products.
  • Help drive, initiate, and implement lean principles in production areas.
