About The Position

LE Construction & Maintenance (LECM) is seeking a hands-on Asphalt Supervisor to lead their paving and concrete crews through the season. This is a working foreman role where the supervisor is actively involved in the work on the ground, operating machinery and managing the site. The role involves overseeing jobs from start to finish, including crew and equipment coordination, material management, site supervision, and ensuring the quality of the finished product. A company truck and fuel card are provided. Successful performance during the paving season may lead to year-round employment supervising snow and ice removal in the winter.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in asphalt and paving, with prior experience as a lead hand or supervisor.
  • Significant hands-on experience operating pavers, rollers, skid steers, and loaders.
  • Proven ability in crew leadership, including directing, training, and motivating a team.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple crews, equipment, and material deliveries across different sites.
  • Solid knowledge of asphalt work, including mill & fill, overlays, patching, crack sealing, sealcoating, grading, and drainage correction.
  • Class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, including traffic control and COR/OH&S requirements.
  • Reliability, punctuality, sobriety, and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with concrete work, including curbs, sidewalks, and flatwork.
  • Background in commercial or municipal paving.
  • Experience in snow and ice management.
  • Mechanical aptitude for equipment checks and troubleshooting.
  • Relevant safety tickets such as First Aid, WHMIS, Traffic Control, and Ground Disturbance.

Responsibilities

  • Run the crew, setting the pace and standard for safety, quality, and production.
  • Operate paving equipment such as pavers, rollers, skid steers, and loaders.
  • Manage daily operations by coordinating crew assignments, tools, equipment, and hot mix deliveries.
  • Sequence work for various paving and concrete tasks including mill & fills, overlays, patching, crack sealing, grading, and drainage jobs to meet timelines and budgets.
  • Communicate with project managers, suppliers, and clients to confirm quantities, schedule work, and provide updates.
  • Ensure site safety through toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and proper traffic control.
  • Oversee and ensure the quality of work, including grade, compaction, joints, water-shedding, and finish.
  • Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance checks on equipment, reporting any issues.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including daily production logs, timesheets, site photos, and material tracking.
