The Asphalt Paving Equipment Operator is responsible for operating the paving equipment on a construction job site in a safe manner. The Operator must complete prestart checks, assist with fluid checks, securing the equipment, cleaning, and other duties as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen with a “Negative” result.
  • Must be able to complete a post-offer physical with a “Capable” result.

Nice To Haves

  • At least six months experience operating equipment listed above.

Responsibilities

  • Operating the paving equipment on a construction job site in a safe manner.
  • Complete prestart checks.
  • Assist with fluid checks.
  • Securing the equipment.
  • Cleaning the equipment.
  • Other duties as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent.
  • Operating equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to company policy, as well as manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Performing daily maintenance & safety checks.
  • Cleaning equipment as required.
  • Ensuring that equipment is secured at the end of the shift.
  • Fostering harmonious interactions and relationships and maintaining basic standards of civility in the workplace.
  • Upholding acceptable attendance.
  • Being a productive team member that supports the team by going and assisting where needed.

  • Complying with all applicable safety, environment, health and waste management policies and procedures.
  • Ability to handle a great deal of stress over long periods of time.
  • Adhering to the Code of Conduct and Company Safety Policy.
  • Ascend/descend ladder 8-10 feet to access equipment operating station.
  • Keep equipment moving along specified path to ensure equipment is processing material to required specifications.
  • Remove excess built up material at the end of shift using a scrapper and shovel, periodically the operator may need to use jack or chipping hammers.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by Foreman or Manager.
