About The Position

Under general supervision of Public Works Superintendent, performs a variety of road maintenance, repairs, and construction duties. Duties include performing a variety of asphalt road maintenance including pothole patching, asphalt repairs, debris removal, and traffic signs. Operates light construction equipment, including pick-up trucks, shoveling (dirt, asphalt or stone) and sweeping associated with asphalt road construction. Assists in operations of various equipment, i.e. milling machine, paver and roller. Performs routine daily maintenance including pre/post trip inspections, checking and filling fluids, reporting repairs, and cleaning all offices, work area, equipment, and facilities. Performs construction duties including setting up traffic control, flagging/directing traffic, and utilizing hand tools. Handles road materials including hot asphalt, oils, gravel, limestone, concrete, compounds, and crack sealer material. Performs any additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by management or as necessitated by the evolving needs of the organization.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution
• Valid Class “C” Texas driver's license required
• Must be proficient in multi-tasking to meet deadlines provided
• Ability to document activities both written and electronic
• Ability to work in a professional manner with all levels of management, staff, and public.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with asphalt paving preferred
