About The Position

Supervise the daily activities of an asphalt paving crew and ensure the crew works safely and produces quality workmanship. The role includes coordinating daily schedules, equipment, plant loading, trucking, and asphalt orders; communicating with project owners, inspectors, and engineers; and performing hands-on paving and equipment upkeep tasks. The foreman must be able to work nights and weekends as required.

Requirements

At least 3 years of paving experience.
Working knowledge of paving equipment.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent technical training and related experience.
Safety knowledge.
Knowledge of traffic control.
Valid driver's license.

CDL.
Asphalt-related experience, such as traffic control, striping, or distributor work.

Responsibilities

Oversee the daily work activities of the asphalt paving crew.
Discuss the day's schedule and equipment needs with the crew.
Confirm scheduled loading times, material type, and tonnage totals with the plant operator.
Order daily trucking needs.
Determine the type and tonnage of asphalt needed and notify the plants.
Communicate with owners, inspectors, and engineers about the paving project.
Shovel and rake asphalt.
Perform minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment.
Calculate areas and volumes.
Measure distances from grade stakes, drive stakes, and check grade from a string line.
Be responsible for crew safety and quality of workmanship.
