About The Position

The ASL Lab instructor will oversee students in labs associated with ASL courses. This role involves collaborating with the course instructor-of-record to plan and execute practical activities for students during these labs. The lab activities are designed to support students at various levels as they develop proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL). The position is classified as an Instructional Asst Professor within the College of Education, Department of Special Education at Illinois State University, located in Normal, Illinois.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in special education or closely related field
  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience as a special educator or in a related field working with individuals with disabilities
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate proficiency in American Sign Language
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience instructing at the college level
  • Experience with learning management systems (i.e. Canvas)
