About The Position

HealthPro Pediatrics is hiring an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter for a full-time, school-based position in Charleston, South Carolina. The interpreter will help students succeed academically and functionally as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary pediatric team. The role pays $43 per hour and up and offers a consistent caseload. The position does not require weekend or holiday work, and summers are off.

Requirements

• Meet certification requirements applicable under state rules and regulations.
• Have a good memory to accurately retain and interpret what has been said.
• Take responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development.

Nice To Haves

• National certification by RID is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa.
• Provide interpretation services in educational, medical, clinical, or office environments.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.
• Research subject matter in advance when technical or specialized terminology is involved.
• Use strong listening skills, memory retention, and clear expressive signing.
• Collaborate with staff and clients to ensure effective communication access.
