About The Position
Baptist Medical Center is hiring an American Sign Language Interpreter for its Office of Interpreting Service at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. This PRN position interprets clearly and accurately between target and source languages for caregivers and patients or companions who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. The role may also involve sight translation of documents. The interpreter will work with a diverse group of people and numerous cultures across the health system. The position covers on-call nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Requirements
- Three to five years of interpreting experience.
- Three to five years of foreign-language experience.
- High school diploma.
- 40-hour Medical Interpreter Training or a Medical Translator Certificate.
Responsibilities
- Clearly and accurately interpret between target and source languages for caregivers and patients or companions who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Provide sight translation of documents as needed.
- Work with a diverse group of people across the health system and with numerous cultures.
