About The Position

HealthPro Pediatrics is hiring a full-time, school-based American Sign Language Interpreter in Charleston, NC. The interpreter will join a supportive, multidisciplinary team focused on helping students succeed academically and functionally. The role offers a consistent caseload, mentorship and clinical support, and the opportunity to contribute to student success. HealthPro Pediatrics is part of HealthPro Heritage and provides pediatric therapy services across school-based, outpatient, early intervention, and ABA settings.

Requirements

• Associate degree or completion of a sign language interpreter training program.
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English.
• Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of approximately 3.2–3.5 or higher.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• An EIPA score of 3.5 or higher qualifies applicants for higher hourly rates.

Responsibilities

• Interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa.
• Provide interpretation in professional settings such as educational, medical, clinical, or office environments.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.
• Research subject matter in advance when technical or specialized terminology is involved.
• Demonstrate strong listening skills, memory retention, and clear expressive signing.
• Collaborate with staff and clients to ensure effective communication access.
